Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager (Manager 1) to lead a team of software engineers within the NOMAD team at Comcast. This role is ideal for a technically strong individual who is growing into engineering leadership. You will guide a small team while contributing directly to the development of cloud-native, microservice-based automation tools that support Comcast's next-generation access and core networks.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

  • Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of automation tools and services.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and deliverables.

  • Drive engineering best practices, including test-driven development, CI/CD, and scalable architecture.

  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance management of team members.

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, maintainable, and scalable software solutions.

  • Promote NOMAD's automation-first philosophy: "If you repeat an action/activity, you are doing it wrong."

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 1+ years in a technical leadership or management role.

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Python, Golang. Additional but optional - Java, JavaScript

  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.

  • Experience with Unix/Linux environments and cloud-native development.

  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and microservices.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and deployment strategies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with Git, Bash scripting, and YAML or similar data serialization formats.
