Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Observability Engineer to join our team in Plano, TX. This role is critical in enhancing system visibility, improving reliability, and enabling performance optimization across large-scale, cloud-native environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize observability tools and frameworks for large-scale distributed systems.
  • Implement and manage OpenTelemetry (OTEL) components including agents, collectors, and gateways.
  • Design dashboards, alerts, and metrics pipelines with Splunk Enterprise, Splunk Cloud, and Splunk Observability.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate observability into backend services using Python, Java, Node.js, or Golang.
  • Leverage AWS Cloud for scalable deployment and ensure monitoring is aligned with cloud best practices.
  • Work closely with DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to identify and resolve system performance issues.
  • Champion observability best practices and foster a culture of proactive system monitoring.

Required Qualifications

  • Solid hands-on experience in backend development using Python, Java, Node.js, or Golang.
  • Strong expertise with OpenTelemetry (OTEL) and associated agents, collectors, and gateways.
  • Proven experience working with Splunk (Enterprise, Cloud, and Observability).
  • Proficiency in AWS Cloud architecture and services; AWS Developer or Fundamentals certification preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certification (Developer Associate or above)
  • Experience working in a DevOps or SRE environment
  • Knowledge of container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS)
