THE ROLE:

As a Technical Lead & Development Manager at Sportradar, you will be responsible for developing the right capabilities in the ad:s tribe, equipping Chapter members with the skills, tools and standard approaches to deliver functional excellence and value to the business. At the same time, the Chapter Lead is a practicing and hands-on Software Engineer themselves, working alongside other Engineers as part of a Squad. As Tech and Development Lead, you will be responsible for the line management and development of the people who are members of your Chapter.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for recruitment, development, performance management and retention of all Chapter members.

  • Responsible for providing line management duties for all Chapter members with a view to focusing on coaching and mentoring techniques aligned with agile principles and values.

  • Responsible for providing an inclusive environment where Chapter members have the freedom and safety to innovate, experiment, and learn from failure.

  • Responsible for providing open and effective communication channels leading to greater knowledge transfer and alignment within the Chapter.

  • Member of the Tribe’s Engineering Leadership group, contributing to topics such as:

    • Operational concerns like Security, Incident Management, DevOps, Audit and Compliance

    • Recruitment and Staffing

    • Engineering Roadmap

    • SDLC alignment and improvement plans

  • Responsible for being the local point-of-contact, coordinating with the People Partner, Office Manager and IT Helpdesk, to represent, signpost and assist Engineers based locally in the same office to find support in matters relating to:

    • Equipment and devices

    • Physical and software access

    • Personal issues

    • New joiners

YOUR PROFILE:

Requirements we’re looking for:

  • Full-stack development experience working as part of an agile/lean development team

  • Familiarity with microservices, Kubernetes, and a DevOps culture

  • Deep understanding of approaches to testing

  • Proven track record successfully leading a development team

  • Experience of line management responsibilities including recruitment, performance management and facilitating personal development

  • Demonstrable experience managing and influencing stakeholders to set expectations and broker successful outcomes

You may also bring - or like to gain - skills in any of the following

  • Professional experience with Go (Golang)

  • JavaScript knowledge, especially using React/Vue, TypeScript and Node.js

  • Optimization and scaling of microservices

  • Machine Learning

  • Amazon Web Services

  • Kubernetes

In addition to these technical capabilities, we are looking for an individual who can show evidence of multiple of following

  • Has diverse technical competency (able to move between teams and contribute value)

  • Able to communicate and influence within and outside of their immediate team with a diverse set of stakeholders

  • Takes ownership of decisions made by themselves and anyone they line manage (maturity and ability to review/balance risks vs reward)

  • Able to work in isolation and make positive decisions (ability to make positive contributions without direct management/supervision)

  • Able to supervise the work of other more junior staff

  • Able to manage their own priorities and those of their team (can deliver when needed or provide context when a delivery cannot be met, due to competing work or insufficient resources (such as time))

  • Proactively works to improve process/practices and their own/team’s/tribe’s workflow and product(s) and clarify understanding

  • Coaching and mentoring staff

The total expected yearly compensation includes a fixed salary, a performance-based bonus component and access to our retention-based equity/stock program. For this position will be compensation between EUR 90.000 and EUR 115.000 with overpayments possible based on the candidate´s personal qualifications.
