About the Role

This role is a key innovative position within the New Propositions & Digital Partnerships team within Group Digital & Technology, with a focus on driving SwissRe to become a Risk, Knowledge and Data company through innovation and prototyping. The team and technology play a key role in helping to encourage a culture of technology excellence, automation, digitisation and better exploitation of data. We are looking for a Senior Developer with strong tech experience that can deliver quality code during innovation sprints, high quality code for reuse while also helping to drive agile working practices and focused delivery within engineering teams implementing market services.

Role Accountabilities:

• To design and develop high quality reusable code as well as innovative prototypes
  • To work closely with internal and external technology colleagues to find, design and implement creative solutions to increase delivery velocity
  • To work alongside and within existing engineering teams in various initiatives running across the digital transformation unit
  • To create prototypes hands-on in hothouse cases
  • To share code, knowledge and best practices with other teams involved in delivery of the Platform to our customers.
  • To support define and implement technology best practice across SwissRe while being a role model of technical and behavioural excellence

Key Responsibilities:

• To create robust, changeable and scalable technology applications – from ideation, to prototyping to production delivery, across a mix of green-field and existing modern applications
  • To help build and shape an increased engineering and delivery team culture, responsible for designing and implementing products across our technology platform with a quick iterative approach and focusing on ability to scale features and business processes
  • To promote engineering excellence, focusing on effective cross-function collaboration and end-to-end responsibility, from rapid prototyping/proof of concepts to delivery, ensuring simplicity, maintainability and scalability of the implementations
  • Form part of an engineering community, within which you are keen to ensure techniques and approaches seek to continuously improve
  • To be aware of and able to innovatively respond to the differing compliance, risk and regulatory controls
  • To help drive continued learning by investigating and applying new technologies and practices to the digital transformation approaches

About the Team

New Propositions & Digital Partnerships is a multi-disciplined team with capabilities to embed innovation culture within SwissRe and has a focus on creating and building digital capabilities to explore new opportunities within the insurance market.

As part of SwissRe, New Propositions & Digital Partnerships collaborates with various other areas of the organisation to support them in achieving their commercial goals by delivering innovative and effective digital capability for their clients and partners.

And have a University degree (Master's equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics or can demonstrate equivalent knowledge, we’d be delighted to hear from you!

Professional Experience:

• 5+ years of broad engineering experience, including working with practices such as continuous integration & deployment, TDD, DevSecOps and Agile approaches
  • Proficient in at least one major programming language (e.g. Golang, Java, C#, C++, Rust, Javascript, Typescript, Scala, Haskell) and willingness to use a different one if required
  • Hands-on experience with modern web development frameworks (e.g. React, Vue, Angular, Svelte, Astro, Qwik)
  • Hands-on experience with designing and building modern applications and infrastructure in public cloud environments, NoSQL databases, MQ/streaming services, containerization, application moniotring, CI/CD tooling
  • Kowledge of emerging technologies (e.g. AI/ML, AR/VR) is desirable
  • Awareness of IT security topics and trends, vulnerabilities and their remediation is desirable

  • Communicates effectively and influences across the technology community
  • Thinks practically in defining solutions balancing business needs with technical
