The Role*

We’re looking for someone to focus on the rearchitecting of our successful existing product, working with our Product and Design teams to break ideas down into workable solutions, and in turn get them out to our customers in a reliable and scalable way.

Our team is currently transforming our well established products into the next generation. With your steadfast passion, and strategic and commercial thinking, you will be focused on:

A brand new greenfield development of our new product UI from the foundations up

  • Collaborating closely with the team on conversational AI
  • Working with the rest of the engineering team to set the right development patterns for front end

The product you will be working on is our core platform, which is our engine for a suite of products that enables increased customer engagement rates. Our core platform comprises of an enterprise grade messaging services and SAAS messaging platform that anyone can use which you will work with the team to evolve to the next level.

We foster an environment of continual learning and encourage growth in other areas. Our back-end is Golang (with some legacy PHP), so there are also opportunities to learn outside of front-end development.

Key Responsibilities*

It's an exciting environment where no two days are the same. But on a typical day you might find yourself:

Helping drive the decisions in technical direction - there's a real opportunity to set the direction for the entire front-end, from the frameworks we use, to how the application is structured. It’s truly green-fields.

  • Working closely with product and design to set the path forward.
  • Testing, testing, testing - automation all the way.
  • Learning from failure as much as from success.
  • Playing as part of a team and multiplying those around you.
  • Cleaning code and engineering best practices - leaving things in a better state than they were found in.
  • Championing operational excellence - reliability, availability and performance are everything.
  • Providing a customer experience that shines.

Skills & Experience*

In order to be successful in this position, you will ideally demonstrate:

Experience in a front-end language. We’re using React with Typescript.

  • Containerisation familiarity - Docker. We’re also using Kubernetes.
  • Some cloud experience - e.g. AWS EC2 or GCP Compute, S3.
  • Experience developing for the web - RESTful, gRPC, Postman.
  • Broad exposure to supporting cloud technologies - queues (e.g. Rabbit, SQS), databases (e.g. Postgres, Mongo, Redis).
  • Agile development.
  • Unit testing frameworks.
  • All the usual supporting tools - git, CI/CD pipelines, Jira.
  • Clear communication skills and an ability to capture and document designs and solutions - architectural diagrams, acceptance criteria, API structures, etc.
