Job Description

The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, and building software applications. The Senior Software Engineer’s responsibilities include contributing to the evaluation, selection, and implementation of supporting software such as databases and open-source frameworks. This organization has a DevOps and cloud-native mindset and takes responsibility for the cloud infrastructure that supports its applications.

Core Responsibilities

• Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.
• Designs new software and web applications, supports applications under development and customizes current applications.
• Oversees creation of documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.
• Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
• Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures, and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior level Software Development Engineers.
• Assists in tracking and evaluating performance metrics. Ensures team delivers software on time, to specification and within budget.
• Develops software update processes for deployed applications. Assists in the roll-out of software releases. Suggests and implements improvements to the processes behind the creation and delivery of software.
• Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.
• Displays expertise in knowledge of software engineering methodologies, concepts and skills and their application.
• Displays expertise in process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Experience designing, implementing, building, and shipping microservices in Go and working with Database Management Systems, especially MySQL compatible
• Solid knowledge of cloud-native architecture and ecosystem
• Hands-on experiences with Containers, AWS, and Kubernetes
• Committed to high quality maintainable code, with experience in testing strategies including unit testing, TDD, and performance systems
• Passionate about delivering elegant technical solutions that meet Product expectations and are underpinned by code that is clear, concise, maintainable, and testable
• Champion for a DevOps culture where engineers take responsibility for delivering highly observable applications into production
• Strive to work and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team, where you can work with, learn from, and teach not just Engineers but also Product Managers, System Testers, UX designers, etc.
• Happy to engage in discussion with your fellow engineers to reach the best possible solutions for our technical challenges
• Proactive, inquisitive, always looking for a challenge, and want to constantly grow as a professional and to grow others around you
