Team Introduction
IaaS team focuses on the development and research of TikTok Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform.

Our scope includes the following three areas:

• IaaS Compute: compute cluster management and scheduling, virtual machine and container technology, cluster scalability and high availability, trusted computing, etc.
• IaaS Network: control plane and data plane of virtual network in cloud data centers, programmable network, etc.
• OS Kernel and Virtualization: kernel-related technologies to support either compute or network, such as kernel scheduling improvements or next-generation virtualization.

Successful candidates must be able to commit to one of the following start dates below:

Technical Assessment
Candidates who pass resume evaluation will be invited to participate in TikTok's technical online assessment in HackerRank.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implementation of core features in critical infrastructure systems, including but not limited to cloud compute, cloud networking, etc.
• Research on cutting-edge technologies and technology trends in cloud infrastructure areas, from both academia track and industry track
• Experiment and build PoCs to verify some new technologies or innovative ideas
• Improve performance, scalability and availability of our cloud platforms, including compute engine and networking system
• Use data to understand the availability, reliability, and sustainability of our infrastructure

Qualifications

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
• Good understanding in cloud computing and cloud infrastructure, including cloud compute and cloud networking.
• Proficiency in Linux-based development and at least one programming language (e.g. Golang, C, C++)
• Good communication, self-motivation, good engineering practice and documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with designing and building large scale cloud infrastructure systems
• Has publications or patents in cloud infrastructure area
• Experience with at least one of the following areas:
• Cluster management system (i.e. OpenStack, Kubernetes, Yarn, cluster scheduling, cluster scalability, high availability, etc )
• Cloud networking system (virtual networking, Overlay network, VPC network, load balancers, gateways, programmable switches, etc)
• System level components (Linux operating system and kernel, Windows operating system and kernel, virtualization, containerization, monitoring and observability, etc)
