Golang Job Details
This is a fully remote position and we're considering candidates in the LatinoAmerica Eastern Time zones.
Grafana Labs is the company behind Grafana, an open source dashboarding tool for visualizing and analyzing metrics. It is commonly used for infrastructure and application monitoring, but we've also seen installations to monitor things like beehives, power-plants, or even ambulances. Grafana's mission is to democratize metrics: users can create dashboards that help them get insights into how their applications behave, enabling them to iterate, take action and improve faster. Commercially, Grafana Labs sells enterprise support plans and has a hosted metrics/logs offering.
We are a family- & pet-friendly company (lots of us have kids, both of the human and fur-kind) and consider ourselves a remote/distributed company- something we have been doing for years now. Even if you are located near our office in Stockholm, working from home is both common and encouraged.
About the Release Engineering Squad
The Grafana division consists of 20 squads and more than 100 people all working on the same codebases: both the open source Grafana project and the Grafana Enterprise product. The Release Engineering team develops the infrastructure and automation tooling to support these engineers, with a particular focus on build and release. The team is supporting efforts to move towards continuous deployment to our Grafana Cloud product, maximizing fast feedback to development teams. As the number of Grafana developers grows, we continue to explore the most effective workflows and build out ever stronger automation, thinking about our builds architecturally for maximum readability and efficiency.
Joining this team you will have the opportunity to influence the entire Grafana division, saving your colleagues time, reducing complexity and helping to forge a reliable process for delivery quality software to our customers and wider community.
Experience of Drone specifically will be helpful, but experience with any form of CI/CD and operational processes will likely be sufficient. Familiarity with programming is a must, as builds are just another form of software. However people often learn Golang on joining Grafana Labs.
Who We Are Looking For
You are comfortable working in a remote-first company; communication is key. For us, working together means being collaborative, friendly, kind, and respectful. We operate by consensus, you can contribute to a discussion but then commit to the team decision.
You are eager to learn and grow. Our team is currently looking to double in size over the next year. There is a lot of room for growth and development, and the team has quite a lot of knowledge to share for those who are willing to learn.
You enjoy working on complex solutions – Grafana is a highly technological solution and has avid followers who rely on it every day and care deeply about their workflows.
You enjoy being part of the community. Community is part of our core, and interacting with the community is a day-to-day thing for us. At the same time, you know how to recognize ideas and solutions that bring the biggest value to them and have the biggest impact on their experience.
You approach development holistically. The team owns the full life cycle of our code; from writing design docs, to looking at community feedback, and integration testing. We appreciate engineers who enjoy looking at the big picture, and also notice the details of the brush strokes.
You have some experience with operating your code, and the intricacies thereof. Since a lot of operators and developers use our software, having some grounding in both of these spaces really helps us with building better software for our users.
