As a senior developer in the CIB Application Engineering and Architecture Group, we look first and foremost for people who are passionate about solving business problems through innovation and engineering practices. The team's focus is to assist CIB application teams to modernize their applications and migrate to one of the cloud platforms or to the new Data Centres. There are significant challenges faced by application teams in order to achieve this and our role is to develop, in conjunction with partners in GTI and CTC, innovative solutions which will make this transition easier for our clients.

The Role:

This is a development role which will require you to apply your knowledge of modern architecture principals and both the internal cloud platforms as well as the public cloud offerings in order to design and develop solutions to the issues faced by the Application teams and then working with our partners to get these solutions integrated into the existing platform offerings. The work will range from enhancing existing cloud platforms to provide additional functionality, development of kubernetes operators/ sidecars to the development of cloud native services which will assist CIB teams in moving their applications to public or private cloud. Teamwork, self-improvement, learning and experimentation are central to being successful in this role.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
  • Experience of Public Cloud Services and Container Runtime Platforms
  • Expertise in application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines
  • Advanced knowledge of architecture and design
  • Proficiency in multiple modern programming languages e.g. Java, Golang, Python.
  • Proficiency in cloud infrastructure provisioning tools e.g. Terraform, Cloudformation.
  • Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices
  • Keen understanding of financial control and budget management
  • Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals
  • Passionate about building an innovative culture
  • Desire to continually learn new skills and technologies
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
