Founded in 2013 and based in Lafayette, Louisiana, Waitr operates an online ordering technology platform, providing delivery, carryout and dine-in options. Waitr, along with Bite Squad and Delivery Dudes, connect local restaurants and grocery stores to diners in underserved U.S. markets. Additionally, Waitr facilitates access to third parties that provide payment processing solutions for restaurants and other merchants. Together, they are a convenient way to discover, order and receive great food and other products from local restaurants, national chains and grocery stores. As of March 31, 2022, Waitr, Bite Squad and Delivery Dudes operate in approximately 1,000 cities throughout the United States.

Job Summary
The Senior Back-End Software Engineer will help our Engineering team build the framework of the ASAP experience, one line of code at a time. They maintain all our products, collect data, measure impact, build new features, release improvements, and vet new products to improve our services.

Responsibilities

  • Essential Functions
  • Maintain and build new microservices in NodeJS and Golang.
  • Build and automate test plans that provide greater than 90% test coverage on test services.
  • Document services and automate the generation of client SDKs with Swagger Open API.
  • Provision new AWS infrastructure and maintain existing infrastructure with Terraform and Helm modules.
  • Contribute to the continued evolution of ASAP’s technical stack

Requirements

  • Minimum Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience building reusable, highly scalable, and performant backend services that can handle millions of users.
  • Hands-on experience in software engineering and up-to-date on best practices.
  • Ability to expertly explain complex technical concepts and share your knowledge with diverse audiences both internally and externally.
  • Anticipate future technical needs for the product and craft plans to realize them.
  • Passion for mentoring and helping fellow engineers develop new skills and advance in their careers.
  • Experience with one or more Cloud Platforms (AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Experience writing well-tested, clean code and building CI/CD pipelines to deliver solutions as quickly as possible.
  • Preferred Education and Experience
  • Production experience with machine learning algorithms.
  • Production experience with engineering streaming data pipelines for offline analytics.
